The place

A farm, a fjord and no streetlights.

Aurora sits on a working sheep farm forty minutes north of the last town, at the end of a road the council stops ploughing in October. That is the point: there is no light here that we did not bring ourselves.

The Hansen family has farmed this shoreline for five generations. In 2017 they built the first glass cabin for a visiting astronomer, and she refused to leave.

Before you ask.

Will I definitely see the aurora?

Nobody can promise that honestly. Between October and March the lights are visible here on roughly seven nights in ten, and stays of four nights or more carry our guarantee.

How cold does it get?

Between minus five and minus twenty. The cabins are heated through the floor and the glass, and we supply all outdoor clothing.

Can I bring children?

Yes, from age six. Two cabins have a second bedroom, and the guides are very good at explaining space.

Is there phone signal?

One bar, by the farmhouse door. There is wifi in the main house and deliberately none in the cabins.

The lights don’t wait.
